Personally I would love one day to have a desktop Linux system running OpenRISC. I would be willing to help with a crowd funding campaign.

there are ways round that - the process has been described by an australian. you set up a company - that gives you the S/S/N. you register for a pay-as-you-go visa/mastercard, that gives you the credit card. you go to the U.S., walk into a bank, give them the S/S/N and the credit card, that allows you to open up a bank account. you register a P.O. Box with the company name. you then give the S/S/N, bank account, credit card, address and company name to Amazon, and you're done.

btw - they've opened up UK payments recently as well.
